The Giants went 4-13, lost nine in a row and moved on from Brian Daboll on November 12, with Mike Kafka finishing as interim. Daboll left at 20-40-1 over four seasons. John Harbaugh arrived from Baltimore in January on a five year deal and hired Matt Nagy to run the offense.

Dart is the reason any of it is interesting. He started as a rookie alongside Cam Skattebo and Abdul Carter, took the first team snaps in the preseason opener against Minnesota and has spent camp saying the same thing in different words, that the group is taking steps every day. Nagy's job is to make that true faster than a 4-13 roster usually allows, and Giants vs Rams is an early measure of how far it has come.

Nate Scheelhaase Takes Over the Rams Offense

Los Angeles led the NFL in scoring at 30.5 points a game and in total offense at 394.6 yards, put up 518 points, and then lost 31-27 at Seattle in the NFC Championship Game with Matthew Stafford throwing for 374 yards and three touchdowns. The coordinator behind that offense, Mike LaFleur, is now the head coach in Arizona.

Sean McVay promoted from within rather than looking outside. Scheelhaase was the pass game coordinator in 2025 and an offensive assistant the year before, and had been sitting in on game plan meetings with McVay and LaFleur the whole time. LaFleur called the promotion a no-brainer. Stafford, in year six with McVay, opened camp sharp, and Giants vs Rams is only the second game Scheelhaase has called.

Giants vs Rams: Worth a Note

Both teams flew a long way in Week 1. The Rams opened against the 49ers at the Melbourne Cricket Ground, so this is their first game back on home grass.

Harbaugh's first two are prime time. New York opened on Sunday night in Week 1, which makes Giants vs Rams his second national window in eight days.

The Rams have receivers. Puka Nacua and Davante Adams both featured in camp, with cornerback Trent McDuffie among the newer faces on defense.
