Chris O'Leary's Very Fast Rise
When Jesse Minter left to become head coach of the Ravens, Los Angeles needed a defensive coordinator. It took them four hours from finishing his interview to agreeing terms with Chris O'Leary on January 28.The jump is the part that got attention around the league. O'Leary spent 2025 as the defensive coordinator at Western Michigan and 2024 as the Chargers' safeties coach under Jim Harbaugh, and he called coming back a once in a lifetime opportunity. He inherits a defense that was good enough to win eleven games, and Chargers vs Bills is one of the first real tests of whether he can keep it there.
Buffalo's New Building, Third Game In
The new Highmark Stadium opened this season across the road from the old one, holding roughly 62,000 under a canopy that covers the seating bowl without enclosing it. It is open air on purpose, with 360 degree concourses, two video boards and a sound system that can aim audio at specific sections.Joe Brady is running it, in his first year as head coach after Buffalo moved on from Sean McDermott. Chargers vs Bills is early enough in the building's life that most visiting teams still have not played in it.

Both coordinators in Los Angeles are new. Mike McDaniel took over the offense and O'Leary the defense, so Harbaugh replaced both play callers in one offseason.Buffalo's January was cruel. The Bills won at Jacksonville in the wild card round and then lost 33-30 in overtime at Denver, and McDermott was gone two days later.
O'Leary and Minter go back. O'Leary was a graduate assistant at Georgia State while Minter was the defensive coordinator there.

Turning up with cash and a plan to sort it out at the entrance does not work any more.Buy the pass when you buy the ticket, and give yourself margin, because a new building means new traffic patterns that nobody in Orchard Park has fully learned yet.
