The Houston Texans schedule 2026 opens at home. Houston hosts the Buffalo Bills at Reliant Stadium on Sunday, September 13 at 1:00 PM ET on CBS. It is only the second Week 1 meeting between the two clubs and the first since 2005.
Three things set this year apart. It is the franchise’s 25th season, the stadium carries the Reliant name again after 12 years as NRG, and the Texans return to London for the first time since 2019 to face Jacksonville at Wembley in Week 6.

Houston closes at home against the Tennessee Titans, and the league left that date open on purpose. Week 18 is set only after Week 17 finishes, with three Saturday windows and the rest on Sunday. Sunday afternoon kickoffs from Week 5 on can also move under flexible scheduling, so treat the 1:00 PM and 4:05 PM slots as provisional until game week.
The slate is not soft. The Buffalo Bills, Jacksonville twice, the Chargers, Pittsburgh, Philadelphia and Green Bay all reached the 2025 playoffs, and six of those seven games fall in the second half of the season. Week 17 at Lambeau Field is on Monday, January 4, 2027.
Texans Preseason Schedule 2026
Houston opens the 2026 NFL preseason with two Thursday night home games, then travels to Charlotte on a Friday. KTRK ABC13 carries all three locally, with 95.7 The Fan on radio and Mega 101 FM handling the Spanish call.

Two of the three also get a national window. NFL Network picks up the Chargers opener and ESPN carries the Raiders game on August 20, while houstontexans.com lists only the local KTRK feed for both.
The Chargers appear twice inside three months, in the preseason opener and again in Week 9 at SoFi Stadium.

Six networks carry Houston games this season. CBS holds half the slate, which is normal for an AFC club, and four games land in national prime time windows.

Three things to know:
- Both Thursday Night Football games stream on Prime Video. The Indianapolis Colts visit Reliant Stadium on November 19, and Houston plays at Philadelphia on Christmas Eve. Both carry a local over the air simulcast in the Houston market.
- The London game is the only NFL Network window. It kicks at 9:30 AM ET, by far the earliest start of the Houston season, and it sits outside every Sunday afternoon package.
- The season ends with three straight national night games. Sunday night at Pittsburgh, Thursday night at Philadelphia and Monday Night Football at Green Bay on January 4, before a Week 18 date still to be assigned.
On radio, 95.7 The Fan is the flagship station. Out of market viewers can pick up Sunday afternoon games through NFL Sunday Ticket on YouTube, and most local CBS and FOX broadcasts are free with a digital antenna.

Seven of the nine road games leave the Central zone. Six head east to Indianapolis, Cleveland, Pittsburgh, Washington, Philadelphia and London, and one goes west to Los Angeles. Only Nashville and Green Bay keep the same clock as Houston, so most road kickoffs feel an hour later than usual for local viewers.
Arizona viewers, one exception applies. Arizona skips daylight saving time, so the Mountain column is wrong for most of the early season. Through Week 7, subtract three hours from Eastern instead of two. Daylight saving ends on Sunday, November 1, 2026, and from Week 9 onward the Mountain column reads correctly.

Reliant Stadium Returns for the Texans 25th Season
The building has its original name back. NRG Energy announced the change on April 15, 2026, and the Reliant name took effect in August, reversing the 2014 rebrand and restoring the name the venue carried when it opened in 2002. Reliant Energy bought 30 year naming rights in 2002, NRG acquired the retail business in 2009 and switched the signage five years later.
The timing is deliberate. This is the Texans 25th season, and the old branding came down ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, where the venue hosted seven matches under the name Houston Stadium because of FIFA sponsorship rules. A company survey found 90 percent of Houston area customers backed the change.
Reliant Stadium seats 72,220 and was the first NFL venue built with a retractable roof. Eight regular season home dates run through it this year, from Buffalo in Week 1 to Tennessee in Week 18.
Texans in London: Week 6 at Wembley Stadium
Houston faces the Jacksonville Jaguars at Wembley Stadium on Sunday, October 18 at 9:30 AM ET on NFL Network. It is only the third international game in franchise history and the first since 2019.
The two earlier trips were a 27-20 loss to Oakland at Estadio Azteca in Mexico City on November 21, 2016, and a 26-3 win over these same Jaguars at Wembley on November 3, 2019. Jacksonville is the designated home team again, which is why the game counts as one of Houston’s nine road dates.
One note on sources. The club site lists the Week 6 matchup with a “vs” label, while NFL.com and jaguars.com both list Houston as the visitor. The road designation is the correct one, and it is what keeps the home and road split at 8 and 9.
When is the Texans Bye Week in 2026?
Week 8, the weekend of November 1. The placement works well: it lands directly after the London trip, giving the roster two weeks between the Wembley game and the November 8 visit to the Chargers. Houston then plays 10 straight weeks to finish the regular season.

Texans 2026 Coaching Staff and Key Players
DeMeco Ryans enters a fourth season with the staff intact. Houston went 12-5 in 2025 and reached the playoffs as the AFC’s fifth seed. The Texans won 30-6 at Pittsburgh in the wild card round, then lost 28-16 at New England in the divisional round. That was a third straight playoff trip, a first in franchise history.
The staff and the depth chart:
- Nick Caley returns for a second season as offensive coordinator, and Matt Burke begins a fourth season as defensive coordinator. Continuity is the theme after the staff was confirmed in March 2026.
- C.J. Stroud starts a fourth season, with Davis Mills as the backup. The quarterback room went untouched in the offseason.
- Jadeveon Clowney returned in August on a one year deal worth 5.5 million dollars, seven years after Houston traded the former first overall pick away. He led Dallas with 8.5 sacks in 2025.
The pass rush is the strength. Clowney joins Will Anderson Jr., who signed a three year, 150 million dollar extension in April 2026 after a first team All-Pro season, and Danielle Hunter, a second team All-Pro in 2025. On offense, Stroud throws to Nico Collins and Tank Dell, with 2025 draft picks Jayden Higgins and Jaylin Noel behind them.

With only eight home dates, the Dallas visit in Week 4 and the Thursday night division game against Indianapolis in Week 11 are the hardest to get. Hold off on the Week 18 finale against Tennessee until the league sets its date after Week 17.
